Privacy Policy

1. Basic Approach

Earth-Life Science Institute, Tokyo Institute of Technology (hereafter to be referred to as "the Institute") collects personal information on users of the official website of the institute (starting with http://www.elsi.jp/, hereafter to be referred to as "this site") to the extent necessary for the efficient operation of the services provided on this site. The collected information will be handled appropriately by the Institute within the scope of the purposes of use.

2. Scope of Collection of Personal Information

  1. Personal information such as names, addresses, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses is required when users send us comments or inquiries.
  2. This site automatically collects domain names, IP addresses and session information. This site uses (information transmitted from the server to the user's browser and stored on the user's computer in order to identify users) and embedded JavaScript.

3. Purposes for Utilizing Personal Information

  1. Collected Information based on 2.1 is referred to management of the Institute. In addition, personal information can be used for responses.
  2. Collected Information based on 2.2 is used for analysis on administration and availability of this site. The analysis can be provided to third parties under contracts for private information security.

4. Restriction of Utilization and Provision

The use and provision of personal information are regulated by the purpose set out above 3. However, information may be provided to third parties in following cases; when a request of disclosure under the law is demanded, when illegal activity such as fraudulent and threats is conducted, and when a consent of a principal party is obtained, or otherwise.

The Institute takes necessary measures for the appropriate management to prevent any illegal access, loss, destruction falsification and leakage of collected Information.

The Institute, in principle, does not provide personal information to any interested parties by a request through inquiry forms.

This policy is applied only to this site. This policy will be amended from time to time in accordance with changes to relevant laws.
